Traditions

How do you celebrate Halloween, Hallow E'en in Ireland, All Hallows Eve, the night before the 'All Hallows', also called 'All Hallowmas', 'All Saints', 'All Souls' Day. Hallowe'en or in Scotland, Hallowtide? Do you create a spooky dinner of Mummy Dogs? Watch a scary movie before going out? Come home to go through your candy and have a great trading of treats? Our time of traditions typically begins with Halloween and extends through family and giving season. After many years of relishing in Trick or Treating escapades, this is the first year that we'll sit this one out. Perhaps a little melancholy at first, we've decided to embrace this time and create new traditions! We've had a blast t

Autumn Joy

Joy; a state of being, an intentional choice or to some an elusive emotion. I find that joy is easily found this time of year. The crisp air, changing leaves, football games and warm drinks create a feeling of comfort and joy. This week make feeling joy a goal for yourself! Break Through

It's often said that a break through only happens after you hit rock bottom. I couldn't disagree more-- A break through can happen during: The first light of morning Your first glimpse of fall A child's smile or laugh The silence of nighttime Gentle swaying of the trees A brilliant rainbow in the sky Seeing an elderly couple holding hands Finally meeting your goal Failing Your pet's adoration The first snow Brisk air on your morning walk The full moon Watching the sunset THINK your best thoughts in order to FEEL your best to TRY and BE your best!

THINK your best thoughts in order to FEEL your best to TRY and BE your best! Ever have one of those moments where you've made a commitment to do something and you're struggling to do it? I think we've all experienced this at some time or another! What do you tell yourself when you're experiencing this? Is it full of "I can't, There's no way, I'll never be able to etc.?" This was my mindset on Saturday Morning when I woke up with a headache and running three miles felt like a marathon. Experiencing the rush of "Not today, I'm not sure and Can I really get this done" left me feeling overwhelmed and drained of energy. The next time you find yourself in this position, quiet your mind; giving

Tomorrow

Today was a good day. I laughed when I should, Remembered everything I could. What will happen tomorrow? Other days, a shadow of myself. Unsure when or how to step, My mind is jumbled--fear and uncertainty. What will happen tomorrow? Seeing people, a puzzle of the mind. Fragments scattered lying on the table, I smile and nod, not sure that words will come. Listening without contributing is unclear but provides clarity. What will happen tomorrow? A collective breath of relief for the good days. Gratitude spills from all of us, Because we don't know... What will happen tomorrow? Thank you to everyone who attended the KC Alzheimer's Walk!
