The best way to help yourself is by giving to others. A more attainable concept when you're on top of your game, easy to forget when you're going through your own hardship. Giving back does not have to be a grand gesture; a smile, holding the door for a stranger, letting someone go first in line can go a long way to impacting others. Today: Make an impact!
Have you ever been sitting, contemplating your next step when a memory floods your mind? You are almost captivated as it washes over you, rendering you helpless to its power. The human experience is fraught with both positive and painful memories. As a result, we may attempt to deny or suppress those memories that we deem unwelcome. What if we were able to sit in silence with our memories? Would this decrease the pressure that is often experienced to "just get over it?"
Setting your mind to be intentional in daily practice doesn't necessarily ensure that everything will go the way that you want. However, making it a priority to see the beauty in every day will help you respond the way that you would like. In all of our lives, there is strife. Allowing yourself to see simple beauty within your day will provide the sense of calm needed to get through challenges.
