The online dictionary defines a moment as "a particular time, period of success, excellence, fame, etc." How many times do we miss a moment? Easy to do given the quick pace of our lives, events, perhaps even relationships. I can't help but wonder how our lives would be enhanced by catching more of these moments?
This morning, when looking out the window (sans coffee I might add), I saw two cardinals in the backyard. Simplistic and absolutely stunning! My first thought, I should get my phone and snap a picture. It was then that I determined by running to get my phone, I had the potential to actually miss this opportunity. (Did I mention this higher thinking occurred without coffee??) Therefore, I opted to embrace the silence and just take it in without documenting the moment. Don't get me wrong, I love taking a picture and sharing via social media as much as the next person. I also get the irony in the fact that this post will be shared by me via social media. :) However, there was a true feeling of tranquility in just enjoying this experience.
So, this week seize a moment:
*Look at each person you encounter this week
*Listen fully before speaking
*Try something new
*Embrace the laughter and innocence of a child
*Apply for the dream job
*Plant the garden
*Take the trip
*Insert your moment here...
There is no right or wrong when it comes to seizing a moment. That's up to you--YOU decide your time, period of success, excellence, fame etc. Go on, seize it!
